What is the Prevue Assessment

The Prevue Assessment is a remarkable software based system that assesses individuals. It also enables the generation of job benchmarks (profiles) that are specifically tailored to an organisation's individual culture.

A variety of in-depth expert reports then allow the user to examine an individual's scores in relation to specific jobs for a broad selection of purposes.

The Prevue Assessment is a powerful HR management tool that is widely and independently recognised as both valid and reliable. Prevue was developed by a team led by Professor David Bartram and Dr Pat Lindley, whilst at Hull University. Both are recognised as leading authorities in occupational testing.

Prevue has undergone exhaustive evaluation to ensure it is fair and effective (see the British Psychological Society review at http://www.psychtesting.org.uk/).

Employer research has shown the following are the areas of greatest importance:

  1. ABILITIES - including numerical, verbal and spatial reasoning.
  2. INTERESTS - in working with people, data and tools/equipment/computers.
  3. PERSONALITY - to ensure fir for the role

Prevue provides valid data in all three areas

Benchmarking - A Unique Job Profiling Facility

Creating a benchmark enables managers to identify the ranges within which the 'ideal candidate' can be found. Prevue gives managers the ability to identify the qualities for a good fit - and this enables the reports to identify gaps where candidates do not meet all the criteria.

5 Ways To Create Benchmarks

Prevue enables managers to create benchmarks quickly and accurately - in a number of ways:

What does the Prevue Assessment measure?

Prevue contains 20 Scales. These are split into the 3 main areas and are:

Abilities (4 Scales)

Interests & Motivation (3 Scales)

Personality (12 Scales; 4 major, 8 sub-scales)

Applications in the World of Work

The reports Prevue generates can be used in support the following areas:

There is overwhelming evidence that psychometric measures significantly improve the quality of recruitment decisions - producing high paybacks in terms of lower staff turnover and improved performance.

Using the benchmarking facility detailed above, the Prevue Assessment generates a Selection Report. This report provides an overview narrative and scale by scale detailed explanation of the results. Sample behavioural interview questions are also generated in response to gaps between the benchmark and the individual's scores.

  • Personal Development. Prevue's Personal Development report compares individual's scores to the benchmark for their job. The report suggests developmental activities in relation to identified gaps between that individual's scores and the benchmark.
  • Reward and Recognition. Prevue's Working Characteristics Report provides an insight into the specific work related characteristics of an individual including; how they view the world of work and whether they are more motivated by a fixed salary or a bonus system.
  • Succession Planning. Supports growth and change within an organisation. Prevue's expert report system generates a report that summarises an individual's suitability fit against a range of job benchmarks.
  • In addition there are also applications in Assessment and Development centres, Performance Management, Cultural Audits and Evaluation and validations of recruitment processes.

    Using the Prevue Assessment

Prevue is available in 3 different formats - each offering options in terms of flexibility, efficiency and degree of control. These are briefly outlined below.

    On-Line Administration

The candidate is able to complete the whole assessment remotely "on the web". An e-mail invitation provides a unique user name and password and a link to the web site. Clicking on the link enables the test.

The test administrator still retains control of the data (results and reports), which are held on a secure website. The system has a timed facility and candidates are given full on-screen instructions to assist test completion.

Data is processed instantly and reports are available to download instantly. These can be e-mailed anywhere. This option eliminates most of traditional test administration although the test user still has to ensure that:

    On-Screen Administration

The on-screen assessment is installed onto a PC or laptop using a CD or email attachment.
Full on-screen instructions are provided and data can be instantly processed once imported into the system website

    Paper & Pencil

The tests are administered using the combined question and answer booklet. Instructions are read out and the test administrator has the responsibility of timing candidates / clients. This requires that the test administrator is present throughout for the duration of the test.

It takes around three to four minutes to input data from the test booklet onto the system website. Data is automatically and instantly scored. The facility to generate all the reports is now instantly available.

    General Information

Prevue takes approximately 1 hour to complete. It consists of 4 timed abilities sections and un-timed interests and motivations and personality sections.

Reports can be generated as quickly as the printer can do its work. (Preferably laser printers). It is possible to complete the whole test cycle (administration, scoring, report generation) within 75 minutes.

All reports, are produced in PDF format which can be easily emailed or stored for future reference.

The Prevue Assessment is available in a wide range of languages.
